In the hustle and bustle of modern life, there's a crucial thing we often overlook: OURSELVES. Isn't it true that many of us would say our sole expectation from life is health and happiness? But what are we doing to live as happy and healthy individuals? The fundamental rule of healing and well-being is "self-love". Everything begins with loving oneself, primarily showing oneself kindness and value. The one who loves themselves is the one who knows how to love. They are also capable of giving to others what they give to themselves.
In my journey of self-discovery, I've discovered various practices that uplift my spirit and nourish my body and mind. I want to share with you these seven rituals that I've been regularly practicing for years, believing in their significant impact on my health and happiness, contributing to my balance, resilience, and harmony.

"Here are more details of 7 practices I've embraced for a healthy and joyful life."
1) Meditation: Meditation is the medication for the soul, a way to cleanse the mind. It’s a must for me! If you haven’t tried meditation or haven’t been interested so far, I would suggest simply praying. Meditation helps you find inner peace, quieting the mind and bringing you closer to your true self. It invites you to focus on the love that envelops us all and fosters gratitude for everything.
2) Tibetan Rites: Every morning, I incorporate the Tibetan rites into my yoga routine. It’s the best way to prepare my body and mind for the day ahead, boosting my energy levels. These rites, known as the ‘Five Tibetan Rites of Rejuvenation,’ are a series of simple exercises that are believed to promote health, vitality, and longevity, enriching my overall well-being.
3) Morning Pages: I’ve loved writing since I learned how to write. Recently, I read a book called ‘The Artist’s Way,’ which has been incredibly helpful in improving my writing skills. It encourages people to write as the first thing in the morning. When I wake up, I wash my face and take a seat to write with a fresh consciousness. I let myself be creative and just go with the flow. It’s a wonderful practice! While writing, I feel so free and intelligent. It’s empowering because if I don’t provide myself with this opportunity, I would never discover the depth of my thoughts and ideas. It’s amazing what lies within me waiting to be expressed! I’ve even written my first children’s story.
4) Breathwork: Oh, the breath! What an incredible key to unlock all doors! I’ll share deeper insights about breathing with you later. I’m utterly captivated by the art of breath - studying, learning, and delving into its intricacies. Though I’m on a journey of continuous exploration, here’s a glimpse for now:
Why do I practice Breathwork? To nourish my soul, to mend my spirit, and to extend support to others with every inhale and exhale. Weekly, I dedicate a 50-minute ‘Breathing Session’ to myself, along with 10-minute breathing practices 4 or 5 times a week. As a breathworker, or as I like to call it, a ‘Breath Coach,’ I offer breathwork sessions to my clients. Discovering the art of breath and stepping into the role of a breath coach has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life. I’m endlessly grateful to my dear mentor Piraye for guiding me down this path. As I teach the art of healing through breath, I find my own healing.
5) Cold Shower: In my early twenties, I recall a news report on TV featuring Russian people swimming in freezing lakes during December, a longstanding tradition believed to boost their health. That scene stuck with me, and I yearned to experience it firsthand. This led me to adopt a daily practice of cold showers.
Since then, I’ve embraced daily cold showers, convinced of their contribution to my mental and physical strength, enhancing my resilience. After each cold shower, I feel remarkably awake and alive. ☺️
6) Sleeping with Mouth Tape: I’ve been practicing this for 5 months now, and the impact has been remarkable. It significantly improves my sleep quality, leaving me waking up feeling more rested and full of energy. It all revolves around the concept of nasal breathing (which I’ll delve into further, as mentioned earlier).
Mouth taping is a fantastic technique that keeps your mouth closed while you sleep, encouraging nasal breathing. If you struggle with sleep issues like restlessness, snoring, sleep apnea, waking up in the middle of the night with a dry mouth or feeling thirsty, or frequent trips to the bathroom, a small change can make a world of difference: simply give mouth taping a try. In just a week, you’re likely to notice a significant shift. If you find your nasal passage congested and struggle to breathe comfortably with tape, start by taping half of your mouth and simultaneously use nasal strips. This combination can open up your nasal passages and help you breathe better through your nose.
7) Walk in nature: Human beings require and depend on the four elements of life, both inside and out. Nature walks provide a perfect balance of these elements, offering fresh air, contact with the earth, exposure to sunlight (representing the fire element), a sense of gravity, and the soothing sounds of Mother Nature. Nature reminds us that we are all connected and part of the same puzzle. In the words of Byron Katie, ‘A morning walk in silence is silent meditation.’
